5 Reasons to Be Excited for the New Black Adam Movie
If you thought Black Adam couldn’t look any better, prepare to be surprised! The new Black Adam movie starring Dwayne Johnson will be released this summer and it’s definitely one to watch out for. Here are just five reasons why you should get excited about this summer blockbuster of a film!
Reason 1: Dwayne Johnson
Dwayne Johnson is one of the most charismatic and talented actors in Hollywood, so it's no surprise that he's also extremely popular. As a wrestler, he became known as The Rock. He then transitioned into acting and quickly became one of Hollywood's top action stars. He has starred in movies like Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle (2017), San Andreas (2015), and Furious 7 (2015). What many people don't know is that Dwayne was born in 1971 in Hayward, California. His father, Rocky Johnson, was a professional wrestler too.
Reason 2: The Director
The production company behind Black Adam is not a major Hollywood studio, but they have proven their worth with other projects. A24 has been responsible for some of the most critically acclaimed films in recent memory, including Lady Bird and Moonlight. They are also responsible for some of your favorite TV shows on Netflix, like Stranger Things and The OA. Plus, this will be their first movie about an African-American superhero. We'll finally get to see someone who looks like us saving the day!
Reason 3: The Writers
It's no surprise that this story is being adapted from a Marvel comic. But, what makes it so exciting is that the writer of The Black Panther movie, Joe Robert Cole, will also be writing this film. And while he's been working on a few other projects in between, he's had a lot of experience with these types of movies. Cole has written and co-written some of Marvel Studio’s greatest hits: Captain America: Civil War (2016), Thor: Ragnarok (2017), and Black Panther (2018).
Reason 4: A Different Origin Story
The new origin story will focus on a younger version of Teth-Adam, who has yet to be given his powers. This is a significant departure from previous iterations of the character, which have focused on his status as the ruler and defender of Kahndaq. The movie will look at how he became that person and explore the conflict between him and his family.
A lot of fans are excited because this provides a new spin on an old character. Teth-Adam has been depicted as more villainous in past versions, but with this movie we'll get an opportunity to see a more nuanced take on him.
Reason 5: The Production Company
The production company, Lionsgate, is not new to the movie game. They have produced some of Hollywood’s most popular films and franchises in recent years. For example, The Hunger Games trilogy grossed over $2 billion dollars at the box office. This means that we can trust that they will deliver a quality film with this project as well.
